Digital Domains

azcentral is The Arizona Republic‘s flagship digital space. The entire site went through a massive overhaul and redesign in March 2014. The current design, used by many Gannett properties, uses a tile format to engage readers. The new content management system, Presto, has eliminated much of the day-to-day coding producers used to do, instead replacing manual coding with a publishing system similar to WordPress in functionality. The system uses other proprietary software to provide producers, reporters and editors with easy-to-use tools to build timelines, slide shows and other digital-only features.

F&D WebsiteFarm and Dairy‘s flagship website underwent a major redesign April 2013. Prior to the redesign users were having difficulty finding news stories. Photos were also difficult to use on the site. The new design allows writers and editors more freedom with using multimedia. It also encourages users to explore other parts of the website by offering breadcrumbs. Farm and Dairy’s site is also responsive. The new site has also allowed us to feature multiple infographics, photo galleries and other media. Visit Farm and Dairy’s website.

The Shale Gas Reporter

The Shale Gas Reporter is Farm and Dairy’s Marcellus and Utica shale blog. The website was designed with landowners in mind. It gives them important, evergreen, information. The site offers FAQs, a glossary of terms and, most importantly, an interactive map designed in Google Fusion Tables. The map gives the location and status of shale gas wells in Ohio. The site’s main feature is stories aggregated from various news sources. These stories do not appear in Farm and Dairy’s print product. Visit The Shale Gas Reporter
